WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING
NPR announced that a specially appointed panel of judges has dismissed all 83 ethic complaints against Brett Kavanaugh regarding his confirmation hearing conduct. Seems it doesn’t matter that the judges admitted the complaints “are serious,” including, outright provable lying, to say nothing of spouting right-wing conspiracy theories in a tone so disdainful that people around him were visibly cringing. The conservative John Robert’s appointed judges decided that they had no authority to investigate or discipline Supreme Court justices. That seems like a cop-out. Does that mean that if you’re a Supreme Court justice, you can get away with anything? Kinda like our President so far, I guess. I hope that’s about to change in the near future. (With what’s going on, that seems highly likely. Go Mueller!)
As for the Christine Blasey Ford case; we now know there was only a sham investigation. Kavanaugh’s alleged behavior is okay anyway in the circles putting him in office. They’re fine with wife-beaters, sexual harassers, and even pedophiles. Like Trump said, “When you’re a star, they let you do it.” Apparently that works for a Supreme Court judge too since the GOP is in control. Once again, we’re seeing the impact of McConnell’s success in packing the courts with right-wing judges. Once again we’re getting a “canary in a coal mine” warning about the importance of judicial appointments.
There’s not much hope that we can do anything about Kavanaugh at this point. But I hope that when we take over the Presidency in 2020 we make it a priority to fill as many judgeships as we can, so that we can bring a little sanity and science back into the powers of justice. Progressives unite; push forward. Save the future. @blueravenartist
