“Family Separation Is Being Compared to Japanese Internment. It Took Decades for the U. S. to Admit That Policy Was Wrong. ” TIME MAGAZINE
That policy refers to where the government rounded up and incarcerated up to 120,000 Japanese-Americans gun-manned internment camps. They got away with it by inciting fear and racism, lying, and calling the Japanese-Americans a threat to national security. Mazie Hirono (D) Hawaii referenced the camps, saying it should never happen again, “but it’s happening again.” She called GOP members “gutless wonders” for not speaking out against party’s President, calling for the resignation of all who’ve continued to lie for him about the existence of the policy when we know for a fact it exists. From 5/5/18 to 6/9/18 alone, 2342 kids were yanked illegally from their parent’s protection. That number continues to grow.
THE NEW YORKER reports the government has no plans for reuniting the families; they’re just taking the kids with no protocols in place for tracking parents and children concurrently. Imagine what that would be like for you in a foreign country. Imagine what it would be like for your child.
“Democrats to Donald Trump: Here’s a bill to Outlaw Family Separation” ROLLING STONE.
Even the President’s own party, admits he has the authority to fix this immediately with a simple phone call, but HE continues to lie blatantly, blaming his policy on the Dem.
Every event that happens now also happens in a historical sense. The Japanese internment camps are historically seen as blight on our country’s past along with the blight of slavery. How will history judge us for allowing Trump to prison-camp these kids? I’m thinking our children and grandchildren will study this in school and judge us harshly. We can’t undo what’s already been done, but we can still make this right. I intend that my dependents know I took a stand. How about you? @blueravenartist
Progressive groups are planning protests across the country for June 30th. Easy to Google.
Call your representatives, especially your Senator. Thank the Dems who are stepping up. Put pressure on the Republicans who are stepping ON these families. A call has impact either way.
Make your voice heard in any venue you have a forum. Progressives unite. Let’s stop this before the blight grows any bigger.
